The Worldcoin Foundation (the Foundation) revealed the completion of the Worldcoin project’s migration to the OP Mainnet, representing a significant milestone in the project’s advancement.
Moreover, the Foundation has revealed its ambitious plans to extend Orb sign-ups for World ID across more than 35 cities in 20 countries worldwide. To support this expansion, they have also introduced the World ID SDK, with the aim of fostering wider adoption of their privacy-preserving digital identity solution.
Simultaneously, the Foundation’s subsidiary, World Assets Ltd, has minted and launched the Worldcoin token (WLD) for the millions of eligible participants who took part in the beta phase. WLD is now fully transactable on the blockchain.
Expanding on the Worldcoin network, Tools for Humanity (TFH), a technology company, has introduced an updated version of the World App, a protocol-compatible wallet that allows individuals to reserve their share of the WLD digital currency, where applicable by law.
“In the age of AI, the significance of proof of personhood is no longer a matter of debate; instead, the crucial question lies in whether the existing proof of personhood solutions can be privacy-first, decentralized, and maximally inclusive,” remarks Alex Blania, Worldcoin project co-founder and CEO of TFH, speaking from Berlin, Germany.
About the Worldcoin Protocol
The Worldcoin protocol, co-founded by Sam Altman, Alex Blania, and Max Novendstern, aims to be the most inclusive identity and financial public utility, owned by everyone.
The Worldcoin Protocol’s goal is to empower individuals and organizations with the necessary tools to participate in the digital economy and advance human progress.
Currently, the Worldcoin protocol comprises three essential components:
- World ID: A privacy-preserving digital identity solution designed to address crucial identity-based challenges, including verifying an individual’s unique personhood.
- Worldcoin Token (WLD): The pioneering digital currency freely distributed to individuals simply for being a unique human.
- World App: The first app compatible with World ID, developed and operated by Tools for Humanity, facilitating global payments, purchases, and transfers using digital assets and fiat-backed stablecoins.
“The Worldcoin Foundation‘s vision is both philosophical and political, aimed at achieving more inclusive, fair, and just governance institutions and a global digital economy. This vision aligns with specific targets of U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 16, including 16.4, 16.5, 16.6, 16.7, and 16.9. This shared goal is embraced by those contributing to or involved with the Worldcoin projects,” states the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
