About the Investors

The funding round was spearheaded by HV Capital and DTCP, with enthusiastic participation from Project A, Thiel Capital, ScaleUp Fonds Bayern, Omnes Capital, and Airbus Ventures.

Christian Saller, General Partner at HV Capital, expresses his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to support Quantum Systems’ vision of achieving global leadership in the realm of AI-powered drone-robotics. The team has consistently demonstrated their ability to maintain a technological edge, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with them as they expand their product portfolio.”

Uwe Horstmann, General Partner at Project A Ventures, underscores the increased significance of dual-use concepts in defense technology amidst recent geopolitical developments. He affirms, “Recent geopolitical events have made it crystal clear that we, as venture capital investors, can no longer afford to overlook the intricacies of defense technology, which encompasses dual-use concepts with multiple applications. That’s why we take pride in our ongoing support for Quantum Systems as they embark on the journey to establish themselves as a prominent dual-use player, fortifying European and Western technological resilience.”

About Quantum Systems

In 2011, Florian Seibel and Dr. Michael Kriegel, who crossed paths during their doctoral studies, obtained a patent for a vertically launchable unmanned transition aircraft. Joining forces with Tobias Kloss and Armin Busse, they co-founded Quantum Systems in 2015. At present, three of the four founders continue to actively contribute to the company’s success.

Quantum Systems specializes in the development of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS).

The company underscores, “Our sUAS combine the efficiency of fixed-wing aircraft with the convenience of vertical take-off and landing, akin to multi-rotor drones. They require no runway or additional equipment for take-off and landing, landing gracefully thanks to their shock-absorbing landing gear. This design minimizes potential damage to both the sUAS and the sensors, prolonging the product’s lifespan.”

Quantum Systems’ electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) drones are meticulously designed to offer improved range, flexibility, and user-friendly interfaces, prioritizing ease of operation for operators.

For clients spanning European defense, security, public safety, commercial, and geospatial sectors, the company is pioneering the development of next-generation UAS. These cutting-edge drones feature software enhancements such as edge computing and real-time AI-powered data processing.

These drones empower clients to undertake an array of operations, including post-natural disaster search and rescue missions, automated railway inspections following adverse weather conditions, and the acquisition of aerial data intelligence for large-scale construction projects.

Advocating for Technological Self-Reliance

Quantum Systems is actively responding to mounting global challenges by bolstering both commercial and government capabilities with robust data advantage systems.

The company recently secured a significant contract with the German Armed Forces for Vector reconnaissance drones, thereby strengthening European security measures. Through collaboration with Airbus Defence and Space and with support from the German Ministry of Defense, Quantum Systems is propelling tactical drones forward by harnessing AI and swarming technologies.

Additionally, Quantum Systems is extending support to Ukraine by providing Vector drones, pushing the boundaries of AI, endurance, and system integration to enhance battle management systems.

With a global vision in AI-powered drone-robotics, Quantum Systems is committed to pursuing a holistic “family of systems” approach, unified software stacks, and the development of Drone Ports to maintain a technological advantage in autonomous aerial data capture.

Florian Seibel, CEO of Quantum Systems, emphasizes the importance of a flexible, bottom-up approach in the face of ever-evolving global challenges. This approach fosters innovation and adaptability, enabling Europe to uphold its democratic values while embracing disruptive technologies that drive progress.

Notably, in October 2022, Quantum Systems successfully delivered the first VECTOR systems to the Dutch Ministry of Defense (MoD) in collaboration with BSS Holland.
