KEMARO has secured €4.2 million ($5 million) in a pre-closing of its Series B funding round.

The capital will be used to accelerate international expansion, with a strong emphasis on scaling operations in the United States and broadening the company’s autonomous robotics product portfolio. The pre-closing was led by Spicehaus Partner AG, as part of a larger Series B round targeting €17 million ($20 million).

What The Company Does

Founded in 2016, KEMARO develops autonomous industrial cleaning robots designed for demanding environments such as logistics hubs, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities. Its flagship product, the K900, is engineered to handle high-debris conditions where traditional cleaning systems are often inefficient or impractical.

The robots operate autonomously, helping industrial operators maintain cleaner and safer working environments while reducing manual labour requirements. The focus is on improving operational efficiency in large-scale facilities where dust and debris can impact both equipment performance and workplace safety.

To date, KEMARO has sold more than 1,500 robots across over 600 industrial customers worldwide, including major global companies such as Unilever, Nestlé, BMW, and Amazon.

Market Context / Industry Background

Industrial cleaning automation is gaining traction as manufacturers and logistics operators look to improve efficiency and reduce operational downtime. Facilities are increasingly adopting robotics solutions to maintain hygiene standards, protect machinery, and comply with stricter workplace safety requirements.

At the same time, industrial robotics adoption is expanding beyond production automation into facility management functions such as cleaning and maintenance. These use cases are particularly relevant in high-throughput environments where continuous operation leaves little room for manual intervention.

The US market represents a key growth opportunity, driven by large-scale warehousing, e-commerce logistics, and manufacturing infrastructure that require scalable cleaning solutions.

In addition, rising labour costs and persistent workforce shortages are accelerating interest in autonomous systems that can operate with minimal supervision. Companies are also prioritising solutions that integrate easily into existing facility workflows without requiring major infrastructure changes. As robotics technology becomes more affordable and capable, adoption is expected to expand into smaller facilities as well, not just large industrial sites, further broadening the addressable market for automation providers. This trend is also being reinforced by increasing regulatory attention on workplace safety standards.

Founder / Expansion Commentary

As part of its US expansion strategy, KEMARO co-founder Thomas Oberholzer will relocate to the United States to lead go-to-market operations. The company has also established a local subsidiary, KEMARO Inc., and opened its first US office in Atlanta, which will serve as a hub for sales, customer success, and business development.

The move reflects the company’s intention to strengthen its presence in North America and build closer relationships with industrial customers in the region.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

KEMARO plans to use the new funding to scale production, expand its international footprint, and accelerate deployment of its robotic systems across new markets. A key target is reaching 10,000 autonomous cleaning robots deployed across Europe and the United States in the coming years.

Alongside geographic expansion, the company is also preparing to launch the K700, a new compact robotic system designed for tighter industrial spaces and environments with lower clearance requirements. This product expansion is intended to broaden KEMARO’s addressable market across different facility types.

The company is continuing its Series B raise with a total target of €17 million, aimed at supporting both operational scaling and product development.
