Italian startup Gyver has raised €1.4 million in pre-seed funding to help solve Europe’s growing shortage of skilled blue-collar workers across the industrial, energy, and electrification sectors.

The round was led by Brighteye Ventures, with participation from āltitude, Vento Ventures, Zanichelli Venture, existing investor Antler, and several angel investors.

Building Workforce Infrastructure For Europe’s Energy Transition

Founded by Francesco Defendi, Leo Acciarri, and Mattia Zarrelli, Gyver is developing workforce technology focused on supporting Europe’s industrial transformation and electrification efforts.

As investment accelerates across renewable energy, data centres, grid infrastructure, and industrial modernisation, demand for skilled electrical workers continues to rise sharply.

Industry estimates suggest Europe will require millions of additional skilled workers by 2030 to meet growing infrastructure and energy demands.

AI-Powered Hiring For Skilled Trades

Gyver is building an AI-driven conversational hiring platform designed specifically for electricians and industrial workers.

The company says traditional hiring in skilled trades is still heavily driven by referrals and word-of-mouth networks, making recruitment inefficient and fragmented for employers.

Its platform aims to modernise this process by helping companies identify, assess, and connect with qualified workers more effectively while maintaining the trust-based dynamics common within the industry.

Expanding Beyond Recruitment

While recruitment is currently the company’s primary focus, Gyver plans to expand into workforce training, upskilling, and productivity tools for electricians and technical workers.

Long term, the company intends to build software tools supporting workflows such as electrical system design and PLC operations, aiming to improve efficiency across industrial trades.

Gyver’s broader vision is to create a workforce platform that combines hiring, workforce management, and worker enablement tools for employers operating in industrial and energy sectors.

Funding To Support Product Development And Expansion

The newly raised funding will be used to expand the company’s AI systems, improve workflow automation capabilities, and further develop the overall user experience for both workers and employers.

According to Francesco Defendi, skilled trades such as electricians remain among the most essential yet overlooked professions in the modern economy.

He believes the future of work will increasingly rely on technical craftsmanship and hands-on expertise that cannot easily be replaced by artificial intelligence.
