Gaming technology company Ready Player Me based in Tallinn raised $56M in a Series B round for focusing on cross-platform avatars in VR and beyond.

The round of funding was led by Andreessen Horowitz. Additional investors included David Baszucki, one of Roblox’s founders; Riccardo Zacconi, one of King Games’ founders; Sebastian Knutsson, another King Games founder; Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Ventures; the D’Amelio family; Konvoy Ventures; David Snowfro and Punk6529. Additionally, Justin Kan— another Twitch co-founder— invested in the round.

Andreessen Horowitz is storied venture capital firm that recently invested heavily in web 3.0 technologies. This investment was led by longer list of equally illustrious names, including David Baszucki, one of the co-founders of ROBLOX, and Justin Kan, co-founder of Twitch.

Ready Player One claims this Series B investment is the largest one to date. It was made after they raised $13M in a Series A in December 2021. With this B round, the company’s total outside funding is $85.5M.

Avatar system

According to the company, its cross-platform avatar system is used by over 3,000 apps across both Web2 and Web3, including VR social platforms like VRChat, Spatial, vSpatial, and Somnium Space.
