EST-Floattech secures €4M for Zero-Emission Maritime Battery Systems

EST-Floattech, a developer of maritime battery systems based in the Netherlands, has announced a €4M funding boost from the Energy Transition Fund Rotterdam and existing investors, including Rotterdam Port Fund, PDENH, Ponooc, and Yard Energy. This investment, with €3M contributed by the Energy Transition Fund Rotterdam, marks the fund’s first venture into maritime battery systems.

The Dutch company plans to use the additional €1M from existing investors to further develop sustainable solutions for inland vessels, ferries, yachts, and more. EST-Floattech specializes in lithium-ion battery systems for fully electric and hybrid marine applications, aiming to support the maritime industry’s shift towards zero emissions.

Introducing the Modular Octopus Series

The newly introduced modular Octopus Series, certified by leading maritime authorities including DNV, Lloyds Register, and Bureau Veritas, offers versatile installation options for a variety of vessels. This series meets the highest standards for fire safety on ships, ensuring both efficiency and security in operation. EST-Floattech’s lithium-ion batteries boast low weight, high energy density, and are equipped with an advanced management system for secure operation.

Custom Solutions for Space-Constrained Vessels

For vessels with limited space, EST-Floattech provides customized battery containers designed to meet high energy requirements, demonstrating the company’s adaptability and commitment to addressing the unique needs of the maritime sector.

Expanding Reach and Eyeing Larger Vessels

With the new funding, EST-Floattech aims to expand its presence both nationally and internationally. The company has set its sights on achieving market leadership in Northwest Europe and establishing strategic partnerships for access to markets in Asia and Oceania. Future plans include targeting larger vessels, broadening the scope of its innovative battery solutions.
