Miami/London-based Clyx, a social platform designed to help people find and attend events together, has raised $14M in Series A funding to expand its mission of combating loneliness by making it easier to connect offline.

The round was led by Blitzscaling Ventures, with participation from Venmo co-founder Iqram Magdon-Ismail, F1 champion-turned-investor Nico Rosberg, and others.

Tackling loneliness with tech

Founded in 2020 by Alyx van der Vorm, a Harvard-trained computational neuroscientist, Clyx provides users with curated event recommendations, real-time friend activity, and compatibility-based social matching. Its AI-powered features aim to remove the friction of planning meetups by suggesting events, nudging connections, and fostering repeat interactions that turn acquaintances into friendships.

Van der Vorm, who researched the health impact of social connections, says the app treats loneliness as a serious health issue: “Isolation can be as physically damaging as smoking. Our mission is to make friendship-building as easy as scrolling on your phone.”

Traction and growth

Clyx currently has 50,000 active users purchasing tickets and over 200,000 browsing events, concentrated in Miami and London. The company plans to launch in New York this month and São Paulo later this year.

Revenue comes from ticket sales and event partnerships, while the app builds a long-term moat around social data and community formation.

Standing out in a crowded space

While apps like Meetup, Dice, and Bumble’s BFF mode exist, Clyx positions itself as an event-first social network, blending discovery, ticketing, and relationship-building. Its Programs feature encourages repeated interactions through series-based events, helping users form deeper bonds.

What’s next

With the fresh funding, Clyx will:

  • Expand to new markets in the US and LATAM.
  • Invest in product development and AI-driven social matching.
  • Build cultural and brand partnerships.
  • Scale its team to support rapid adoption.

Van der Vorm’s long-term goal: “To make going out with friends as effortless as staying in.”
