YScope, a company developing logging infrastructure for modern computing systems, has raised $3.9 million in funding led by Two Small Fish Ventures, with participation from Snow Angels, Next Wave NYC, the University of Toronto’s UTEST accelerator, and several individual investors.

The funding will support the expansion of its platform and team as demand grows for more efficient ways to manage the increasing volume of data generated by AI systems.

What The Company Does

Founded in 2021 as a spinout from the University of Toronto, YScope focuses on software solutions for log storage, search, and analytics. Logging refers to the recording of system events, actions, and errors, which is essential for monitoring, debugging, compliance, and security.

The company’s core technology, the Compressed Log Processor (CLP), enables organizations to store and query large volumes of log data without requiring decompression. This approach reduces both storage requirements and computational overhead, allowing for faster and more efficient data analysis.

YScope’s platform is already being deployed in production environments, including use cases at companies such as Meta, Uber, and Walmart. Its infrastructure is designed to handle large-scale data environments, including applications involving distributed systems and connected devices.

Market Context / Industry Background

The rapid growth of AI systems, particularly agent-based models, is significantly increasing the volume and complexity of machine-generated data. These systems continuously produce telemetry data, creating new challenges for storage, processing, and real-time analysis.

Traditional logging infrastructure was largely designed for human operators. However, as AI agents increasingly generate and consume logs, the scale of data has shifted beyond what conventional systems can efficiently handle. This trend is further amplified by the expansion of autonomous systems, including robotics and connected vehicles.

As a result, there is growing demand for infrastructure that can support high-throughput data environments while maintaining efficiency and scalability. Solutions that reduce storage costs and enable faster data retrieval are becoming critical components of modern computing architectures.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Ding Yuan, co-founder and CEO of YScope, described the company’s focus as building infrastructure suited to a shift in how logs are used. He explained that AI agents, rather than humans, are becoming the primary consumers of log data, generating and analyzing significantly larger volumes of information.

He noted that this shift creates an urgent need for more efficient systems to store and interpret telemetry data, positioning YScope’s technology as a response to these emerging requirements.

Allen Lau, co-founder and operating partner at Two Small Fish Ventures, emphasized the broader implications of this transition. He pointed out that as intelligent systems become more widespread, the volume of machine-generated events will increase substantially, making logging infrastructure a more strategic layer within the technology stack.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

YScope will use the newly secured funding to expand its engineering team, further develop its CLP technology, and increase adoption across enterprise customers. The company currently employs around 20 people and is focusing on scaling its infrastructure to support a wider range of high-volume data environments.

The funding was raised through a simple agreement for future equity (SAFE), reflecting the company’s early-stage financing approach despite having already demonstrated production-level deployments.

YScope’s technology has been validated in large-scale environments, including powering Uber’s production logging platform and supporting edge log processing across more than 1.5 million connected electric vehicles. These deployments provide a foundation for further expansion as demand for AI-compatible infrastructure continues to grow.
