Gothenburg-based Vesiro, a spinout from Chalmers University of Technology, has raised €1.6 million in seed funding to scale its performance-focused search technology designed for large-scale data environments.

The round was backed by Chalmers Ventures, Industrifonden, Länsförsäkringar Göteborg & Bohuslän, Yuncture, First Gate Invest, E14 Invest, Mach One, and a group of angel investors including Stefan Mahlstein, Staffan Truvé, Jan Sparud, Petter Eriksson, and Magnus Lundgren.

Addressing rising data centre energy demand

The funding comes at a time when global data volumes are accelerating rapidly, putting increasing strain on servers and data centres. Data centres already account for roughly 1% of global electricity consumption, a figure expected to grow substantially as AI, analytics, and digital services expand.

Vesiro targets this challenge with a plug-in built for Elasticsearch that improves search efficiency without requiring changes to existing system architectures. Internal benchmarks and early customer pilots indicate that the technology enables organisations to process the same search workloads using significantly fewer servers.

Improving performance while reducing infrastructure costs

According to the company, its solution is particularly relevant for organisations with high Elasticsearch-related infrastructure costs, including companies operating in business intelligence, e-commerce, and AI-driven analytics.

“Data volumes are growing faster than today’s infrastructure can handle,” said Oskar Hagman, co-founder and CEO. “Our technology makes it possible to analyse large datasets using far fewer servers, which reduces both operational costs and energy consumption.”

By increasing throughput and lowering query latency, Vesiro’s plug-in allows companies to shrink server clusters while maintaining performance and service levels.

Next steps for Vesiro

The newly raised capital will primarily be used to expand Vesiro’s technical team, accelerate product development, and support market entry and customer adoption.

About Vesiro

Vesiro develops a performance-enhancing plug-in for Elasticsearch that enables organisations to run large-scale search workloads with less computing power. By improving efficiency at the query level, the company helps customers reduce cloud infrastructure costs, lower energy usage, and scale data-intensive applications more sustainably.
