Uno Platform, a Montréal-based AI software startup, has raised $3.5 million in convertible note financing to expand its enterprise-focused “pragmatic vibe coding” tools.
The round was led by AQC Capital, with participation from Desjardins Capital, Oliva Capital, and over a dozen angels via Anges Québec, including Microsoft VP Scott Hanselman.
The funding brings Uno Platform’s total financing to $6.5 million.
AI-assisted coding without the ‘black box’
Vibe coding — directing AI to write code from natural language prompts — has gained traction, but most consumer tools lack enterprise-level transparency. Uno Platform’s approach lets developers:
- Build mobile, web, and desktop apps via drag-and-drop visual design
- See 100% of AI-generated code for compliance and security
- Make real-time design tweaks that instantly update the underlying code
The company’s Hot Design feature is patent-pending and designed to align with strict enterprise security protocols.
From open source to enterprise SaaS
Initially built at Montréal tech firm Nventive, the firm became open source in 2018 and has since attracted 300+ contributors. In May 2025, the company launched a paid enterprise edition with additional features, sold on a per-user subscription basis.
Current clients include Jean-Coutu, Cineplex, and iA Financial.
Growth plans
The new funding will support:
- Expanding the Uno Platform Studio product
- Executing its go-to-market strategy
- Hiring at least 10 more staff in Montréal (currently ~20 employees)
CEO François Tanguay said the team was “super happy” with the local investor ecosystem, though US expansion is a possibility for future fundraising.
