Richmond-based delivery platform UniUni has raised $95.4 million CAD ($70 million USD) in a Series D round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with continued backing from DCM Ventures, LFX Venture Partners, and Celtic House Venture Partners, which has also joined the company’s board.
This latest round pushes UniUni’s total funding to over $272 million CAD. It follows two previous raises within the last 13 months as the company rapidly scales to serve the booming low-cost e-commerce market in North America.
Scaling infrastructure and AI
With this funding, UniUni aims to expand its warehouse network, enhance its AI-powered logistics tech, and grow delivery coverage from its current 95% of Canada to a broader U.S. presence—already reaching 75%.
Worker classification questions linger
Despite its growth, the company has faced labour-related lawsuits alleging misclassification and underpayment of drivers. The company operates a contractor model similar to gig-economy platforms.
From food to freight
Founded in 2019 as a restaurant delivery service, the firm pivoted to e-commerce and now handles last-mile logistics for major online retailers including Shein, Temu, and AliExpress.
