The Medical Travel Company (TMTC) has raised €3.8 million in funding to scale its cross-border medical travel platform connecting UK patients with affordable, high-quality treatments in India.

The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from 4CAST, a sports-focused investment group co-founded by England cricket stars Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, alongside Indian cricketer KL Rahul.

Solving long NHS wait times through structured cross-border care

With 7.7 million UK residents currently on waiting lists for elective treatments — including orthopaedics, IVF, ophthalmology, and dental care — demand for accessible alternatives is surging. Each year, over 500,000 Britons seek medical procedures abroad, but the process remains fragmented, with inconsistent quality, unclear pricing, and limited follow-up care.

Founded by Sahil Jain and Ankit Mehrotra, The Medical Travel Company was created to change that. The company provides a clinician-led, full-stack medical travel platform that integrates UK doctor oversight, partnerships with globally accredited hospitals, and comprehensive travel, aftercare, and recovery support.

“We’re bringing transparency, safety, and trust to an industry that’s long operated without it,” said Sahil Jain, Co-founder of TMTC. “Our model ensures patients get world-class treatment abroad without compromising continuity of care at home.”

A complete medical travel solution

The Medical Travel Company’s approach combines UK-based clinical supervision with internationally trained specialists in India. Each patient’s treatment plan is designed collaboratively, ensuring medical oversight before, during, and after surgery.

Key features include:

  • UK doctor involvement throughout the care journey
  • Accredited hospitals meeting global clinical standards
  • End-to-end logistics, including travel, accommodation, and aftercare
  • 12-month post-surgery insurance, ensuring follow-up care and protection back home

This integrated model transforms the patient experience — removing uncertainty around cost and care quality while delivering significant savings compared to UK treatment costs.

Expanding access to global healthcare

The new funding will support TMTC’s expansion of clinical partnerships in the UK, the development of certified treatment pathways, and investment in technology for medical record integration, ensuring continuity of care once patients return home.

“The Medical Travel Company is redefining medical travel by combining world-class healthcare infrastructure with structured oversight and patient-first design,” said a spokesperson from Nexus Venture Partners. “It’s a model that can scale globally while delivering real value to patients and healthcare systems alike.”
