Tewke, a London-based smart home and energy optimisation company, has raised £1.5 million in its second funding round to expand its AI-driven home energy platform and strengthen its engineering capabilities.

The round included JamJar Investments, Cur8 Capital, Energy Mix Ventures, Project Ventures, and angel investor Vlad Yatsenko, co-founder and CTO of Revolut. The capital will be used to accelerate product development, grow the team, and enhance the company’s go-to-market strategy.

What The Company Does

Founded in 2020 by Piers Daniell and Rowan Dixon, Tewke develops smart home technology designed to simplify energy management and automation without complex installation requirements. Its core product, Tap, is a smart control system engineered in the UK that can be installed without rewiring and operates in homes without a neutral wire, making it compatible with a large share of UK housing stock.

Beyond lighting control, Tap enables households to optimise electricity usage by shifting consumption to lower-cost, off-peak tariff periods. This approach helps reduce both household energy expenses and associated carbon emissions while improving overall energy efficiency.

The product is part of a broader platform strategy centred on contextual, AI-powered home intelligence. Tewke develops its technology stack in-house, including proprietary hardware, firmware, and its operating system, Tewke OS, allowing tighter integration between sensors, automation, and energy optimisation functions.

Market Context / Industry Background

Residential energy optimisation is becoming increasingly relevant as energy prices remain volatile and households seek more efficient ways to manage consumption. At the same time, electrification, dynamic tariffs, and smart grid initiatives are encouraging the adoption of intelligent home energy systems that can respond to real-time pricing and usage patterns.

However, many existing smart home solutions require professional installation or infrastructure modifications, limiting adoption in older housing stock. Technologies that are easier to install and compatible with legacy electrical systems are therefore gaining traction, particularly in markets like the UK where a large proportion of homes lack modern wiring configurations.

AI-driven home automation platforms are also evolving beyond simple device control toward contextual energy management, where systems adapt to user behaviour, environmental conditions, and tariff structures to optimise efficiency.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Co-founder and CEO Piers Daniell stated that the company’s long-term vision extends beyond basic energy optimisation, focusing instead on creating intelligent and user-centric living environments that integrate sustainability with everyday home functionality.

Co-founder Rowan Dixon highlighted the technical challenges involved in developing next-generation electronics and AI systems domestically, noting that the ability for users to install the Tap device within minutes and immediately begin optimising energy usage demonstrates the practical impact of the company’s engineering approach. He added that the new funding will allow Tewke to scale proven technology while continuing to prioritise product development and technical refinement.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The newly raised funding will support the expansion of Tewke’s engineering team and the continued development of advanced AI capabilities, including neuro-symbolic models aimed at improving contextual energy efficiency within residential environments. The company also plans to strengthen its commercial strategy as it scales adoption of its platform.

In 2025, Tewke introduced TewkeAI in collaboration with Google, a contextual AI framework that leverages data from Tap’s nine integrated sensors to analyse movement, activity patterns, air quality, and temperature within the home. This data-driven approach is intended to enhance automation accuracy and optimise energy usage in real time.

In addition to venture backing, the company’s growth has been supported by non-dilutive funding from Innovate UK, contributing to ongoing research and development efforts focused on intelligent home energy systems.
