Ljubljana-based Sunrise Robotics has officially launched from stealth, securing €7.3 million in funding to address a growing labor gap in European manufacturing.
The round was led by Plural, with participation from Tapestry, Seedcamp, Tiny.vc, and Prototype Capital.
Making automation more accessible
Founded by veterans from Layer, Airnamics, and PCH International, Sunrise Robotics is building robotic cells with dual arms, sensors, and advanced perception. Trained in simulated workspaces, these units are faster and cheaper to deploy than traditional automation solutions—especially for small and medium-sized manufacturers.
Closing the workforce gap
Europe faces a manufacturing labor crunch as older workers retire and younger generations avoid industrial jobs. Sunrise aims to ease this strain by helping factories automate repetitive tasks. The company’s systems operate as a connected fleet that improves over time through regular updates.
Early traction and future plans
Sunrise Robotics already has robotic systems deployed in electronics facilities across Europe and has signed letters of intent with more than 10 customers in sectors ranging from supercars to batteries. The fresh funding will be used to grow the team, enhance AI capabilities, and scale production.
Co-founder Tomaz Stolfa said, “We’re building a more sustainable and resilient European manufacturing future through intelligent, simulation-driven automation.”
