StretchSense, a wearable technology company focused on motion capture gloves, has raised $2.3 million in fresh funding.
The round was led by PXN Ventures, with additional backing from Scottish Enterprise.
With this investment, StretchSense has now raised close to $20 million across three external funding rounds, supporting its continued growth in immersive technology markets.
Building controller-free interaction for XR
Founded in 2012, StretchSense develops motion capture gloves that translate natural hand and finger movement into digital environments. The company’s technology is built on proprietary stretch sensors combined with machine learning, enabling precise real-time tracking for virtual and extended reality use cases.
The gloves allow users to interact naturally without traditional controllers, supporting applications across animation, gaming, training, simulation, and virtual production.
Product range and expanding use cases
StretchSense offers several glove lines tailored to different needs, including XR training gloves for immersive learning, gaming and streaming gloves for intuitive interaction, and professional-grade motion capture gloves for animation and virtual production.
The products are designed with a focus on comfort and durability, using machine-washable textiles and resilient sensors. Many models also include haptic feedback through vibration, allowing users to feel interaction with digital objects.
Beyond entertainment and creative industries, the company is expanding into healthcare education, aviation, and defense. Drawing on more than a decade of hand data capture research, the company’s gloves are used to create realistic training environments that support skill development and muscle memory.
Scaling toward enterprise and government adoption
Chris Chapman, recently appointed CEO and former investor director, said the company’s goal is to make XR interaction more intuitive by removing reliance on handheld controllers.
He noted that StretchSense’s XR training gloves are designed to support scalable, immersive training experiences with measurable outcomes across enterprise and government settings.
Looking ahead
With the new funding, StretchSense is targeting 2026 as a key milestone for scaling its XR training technology. The company plans to further integrate physical interaction with virtual environments, aiming to improve learning effectiveness and broaden adoption across high-impact industries.
