Autonomous delivery pioneer Starship Technologies has raised $50 million in fresh funding to expand its U.S. operations, grow its robot fleet, and deepen partnerships with major retailers seeking reliable, last-mile automation.

The round was led by Plural, with participation from Karma.vc, Latitude, Coefficient Capital, SmartCap (backed by the EU’s NextGenerationEU program), and Skaala. This latest funding brings Starship’s total capital raised to over $280 million since its founding.

Pioneering the Future of Urban Logistics

Founded in 2014 by Skype co-founders Ahti Heinla and Janus Friis, Starship Technologies has become a global leader in autonomous last-mile delivery, completing over 9 million deliveries across 270+ locations in seven countries with a fleet of more than 2,700 robots.

The company operates at commercial scale, with successful deployments in European cities and U.S. university campuses, proving that autonomous delivery can be profitable, reliable, and sustainable.

“Delivery robotics is the next wave of urban logistics — a once-in-a-generation shift in how goods move through cities,” said Ahti Heinla, Co-founder and CEO of Starship Technologies. “We already dominate European urban markets and U.S. campuses. Now it’s time to replicate that success across American cities. Millions of U.S. consumers will soon experience sub-30-minute robotic delivery as the new standard.”

Backed by Long-Term Believers

Taavet Hinrikus, Partner at Plural, commented:

“Starship has quietly built the most successful autonomous technology company in the world. They’re already deployed, already profitable, and already changing how goods move through cities. We’ve doubled down on our investment because the team has proven they can scale globally — and the opportunity in American urban markets is enormous.”

Starship’s partnerships include major U.S. and European delivery platforms such as Grubhub, Bolt, Wolt, and Foodora, integrating robotic delivery into mainstream e-commerce and food logistics networks.

Scaling Autonomy and Sustainability

With this new capital, Starship plans to:

  • Accelerate rollout across U.S. cities, focusing on urban logistics and retail delivery.
  • Expand its autonomous robot fleet to meet growing demand.
  • Strengthen retailer and platform partnerships for large-scale integration.

Starship’s delivery robots offer a zero-emission, cost-efficient solution to urban congestion, bringing scalability and sustainability to last-mile delivery at a fraction of the traditional cost.
