London-based space intelligence company Spaceflux has raised a total of £9 million following a £3.5 million extension to its seed round, as it expands its global footprint in space surveillance and defence.

The round was led by Blackfinch Ventures, with continued backing from Foresight Group and the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund, managed by Future Planet Capital. New participation comes from SPARX Asset Management via its Space Frontiers Fund II, marking the company’s first institutional investor from Japan.

Expanding AI-Powered Orbital Intelligence

Founded in 2022, Spaceflux develops space domain awareness (SDA) capabilities by combining a global network of optical sensors with its proprietary AI platform, Cortex.

Its technology enables real-time tracking and analysis of objects in orbit, alongside “Pattern of Life” analytics designed to support defence, security, and operational decision-making for governments and commercial operators.

Strong Momentum Through Government Contracts

The funding follows a series of major contract wins. Spaceflux recently secured all three UK government space surveillance and tracking contracts under the National Space Operations Centre framework.

Internationally, the company has been selected by MDA Space to support Canada’s Surveillance of Space 2 programme.

It is also involved in NATO’s DIANA programme and has demonstrated advanced tracking capabilities during the Artemis II mission in collaboration with UK Space Command and the UK Space Agency.

Scaling International Presence

With the addition of SPARX Asset Management, Spaceflux is expanding into Japan, reinforcing its presence across key allied markets including the UK, Canada, and NATO partners.

The new capital will be used to scale infrastructure, enhance AI capabilities, and support further international deployments as demand for sovereign space intelligence continues to rise.

“This funding reflects our transition from early-stage growth to operational scale,” said Marco Rocchetto, CEO and co-founder of Spaceflux. “There is a clear global demand for trusted, sovereign space intelligence, and we are now expanding that capability internationally.”
