CFO-as-a-Service scaleup Scaleup Finance has raised £3 million to launch Nume, the world’s first AI-powered Chief Financial Officer — designed from the collective experience of 40 CFOs and 500 SMEs to bring financial leadership to small and mid-sized businesses worldwide.
The round was led by a pan-European syndicate of investors, including Mainset (UK), Circlerock (Ireland), North Ventures (Denmark), Crowberry (Iceland), Inveready (Spain), and SeedX (Liechtenstein), alongside notable angels such as Dan Cobley, former Managing Director of Google UK.
Bringing CFO-Level Leadership to 50 Million SMEs
While large enterprises rely on experienced CFOs to drive financial strategy, over 50 million SMEs globally still operate without a dedicated finance function — relying instead on manual processes, spreadsheets, and limited access to financial expertise.
Nume aims to bridge that gap. Unlike traditional accounting or dashboard tools, the platform functions as a virtual CFO, capable of:

- Preparing detailed reports and forecasts
- Proactively identifying risks and opportunities
