Finnish industrial AI startup Rotomate has secured €2.1 million in pre-seed funding to accelerate the development of its AI-powered reliability platform and expand its presence across European manufacturing and process industries.

The round was led by Kvanted, with participation from Robin Capital, Angel Invest, Accel through its scout program, and Business Finland via an AI development grant. The new capital will support product development, team growth, and international expansion as the company scales its technology across industrial facilities.

Tackling One Of Industry’s Biggest Operational Challenges

Industrial companies have spent decades investing in sensors, monitoring systems, and machine data collection. However, while the volume of operational data has grown rapidly, the number of specialists capable of interpreting that information has remained limited.

As a result, many facilities still rely on experts to manually review alerts and determine which issues require immediate action. Unplanned equipment failures can lead to significant downtime and costly production losses.

Founded in 2024, Rotomate aims to bridge this gap by introducing an AI-powered decision layer that transforms machine data into actionable maintenance recommendations.

Turning Machine Data Into Expert-Level Decisions

Rather than simply generating alerts, Rotomate’s platform continuously analyzes operational data, maintenance records, and historical performance information to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.

The company describes its technology as an “AI colleague” capable of replicating the reasoning process of experienced reliability engineers.

The platform delivers detailed analysis reports that explain the source of a problem, recommend the appropriate response, and provide supporting context for maintenance teams. According to the company, this can reduce manual monitoring workloads by up to 83% while making expert-level analysis available across entire facilities.

Growing Adoption Across Major Industrial Operators

Rotomate is already working with industrial organizations whose combined production value exceeds €35 billion annually.

Customers include major process industry companies such as Metsä Group, SSAB, and Aurubis, highlighting growing demand for AI-driven reliability solutions that help reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.

The company has expanded rapidly since its launch, growing from two employees to a team of ten within the past year. Its commercial pipeline now spans several European markets, including Finland, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland.

Experienced Founding Team

CEO and Co-Founder Mikko Kuusisto previously played a key role in scaling Swappie from approximately €1 million to €220 million in revenue.

Co-Founder and CTO Dr. Jesse Miettinen brings deep expertise in industrial AI and condition monitoring, having conducted pioneering research in the field at Aalto University before launching Rotomate.

The broader team includes specialists with backgrounds in industrial engineering, machine reliability, and artificial intelligence.

Accelerating International Expansion

The newly raised funding will be used to strengthen product capabilities, expand engineering and commercial teams, and support international growth.

Rotomate believes industrial companies are sitting on vast amounts of underutilized machine data that could unlock significant operational improvements if combined with scalable expert-level decision making.

Founder Perspective

Mikko Kuusisto, Co-Founder and CEO of Rotomate, said:

“Industrial plants already possess enormous amounts of operational data. The challenge is not collecting information but having enough expertise available to act on it. Our goal is to make expert-level reliability decisions accessible around the clock, enabling every facility to improve uptime and operational performance.”

Dr. Jesse Miettinen, Co-Founder and CTO of Rotomate, added:

“Most condition monitoring systems stop at generating alerts. Human experts go much further by analyzing causes, evaluating risks, and recommending actions. We believe software should be capable of doing the same. This represents the shift from expert-driven maintenance processes to scalable intelligence that can support entire industrial operations.”
