Rail Flow, a Frankfurt headquartered company modernising rail freight and intermodal logistics, has closed a €12.5 million Series A round to accelerate its AI enabled platform and expand its international presence.

The round was led by Trill Impact and Bonsai Partners, joined by Climentum Capital, multiple angel investors, and existing backers Rethink Ventures and Futury Capital.

A strong signal for Germany’s fast growing RailTech sector

The investment marks the beginning of a new growth stage for Rail Flow, combining AI innovation with broader market expansion. It also contributes to a wider increase in RailTech funding seen across Germany in 2025. Earlier this year, Menlo79 raised €2.1 million to advance its workforce planning tools for rail and logistics, while Futurail secured €7.5 million to progress autonomous train technology. Together with Rail Flow’s latest raise, these rounds highlight a growing commitment to digitalisation, automation and competitiveness across the rail industry.

Strengthening the digital backbone of European rail logistics

Alexander Hedderich, Chairman of the Advisory Board, says Rail Flow is positioned to help make rail freight more efficient and future ready by offering a unified digital layer for logistics stakeholders. Founded in 2020, the company now has a 170 person team across Frankfurt, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Izmir, Manila and Brisbane, serving more than 500 customers including shippers, forwarders, rail operators and intermodal providers.

Rail Flow’s platform functions like an end to end operating system for rail logistics, covering sales, order to cash and fleet management. Through its integrated marketplace, customers can manage procurement and sales more transparently while improving utilisation and coordination across the ecosystem.

Sustained momentum and rising international demand

In recent years, Rail Flow has doubled its revenue annually, expanded its intermodal product portfolio through a merger with Simply Deliver and strengthened its global footprint. CFO Marcel Hoeke says growing interest from international investors validates the untapped potential in a sector that is still behind other transport modes but rapidly shifting toward modern digital operations.

Co founder and co CEO Osman Akdemir adds that integrating AI into the transport management platform will make planning more dynamic, execution more reliable and operations more transparent for logistics teams. The company aims to help rail become the core of sustainable, high efficiency freight transport across Europe.
