Paris-based Quantonation Ventures, a specialist VC firm investing in quantum and deep physics technologies, has closed its second flagship fund at €220 million — exceeding its €200 million target.
With the close of Fund II, Quantonation Ventures becomes the largest dedicated quantum investment firm globally by assets under management (AUM).
The fund was oversubscribed and builds on the firm’s first €91 million vehicle launched in 2018.
Strong Institutional Backing
All major investors from Quantonation I returned for Fund II, including:
- Vertex Holdings
- Fonds National d’Amorçage 2, managed by Bpifrance on behalf of the French State
- Bradley M. Bloom, Co-founder and former Managing Director of Berkshire Partners
New limited partners joining the fund include:
- European Investment Fund (EIF)
- Grupo ACS
- Novo Holdings
- Planet First Partners
- Toshiba
The participation of Toshiba underscores growing corporate interest in quantum technologies as industrial adoption accelerates.
Investing Across The Quantum Stack
Quantonation Fund II focuses on pre-seed and seed-stage startups developing quantum and deep-physics technologies across areas such as:
- Quantum computing
- Molecular design
- Cybersecurity
- Ultra-precise sensing
- Supply chain optimisation
- Advanced materials and hardware
Since its inception, Quantonation Ventures has invested in startups across more than 10 countries, backing companies working across the full quantum and physics-driven technology stack.
Managing Partner Christophe Jurczak commented:
“Quantum has spent decades being described as five years away. That wasn’t a failure of physics, but of ecosystems. What’s changed is alignment: hardware, software, supply chains, and industrial demand. Quantum is no longer a race to build one machine. It’s an interlocking stack — and that’s where durable value now sits.”
Riding The Quantum Investment Wave
The fund closes amid renewed global momentum in quantum technology investment, as governments, corporates, and institutional investors increasingly prioritise next-generation computing and sensing capabilities.
By positioning itself early across the full stack — from hardware infrastructure to application layers — Quantonation aims to capture long-term value as quantum technologies transition from research to commercial deployment.
