Construction technology startup Provision has raised $7 million USD ($9.8 million CAD) in seed funding to develop its AI co-pilot platform, designed to help pre-construction teams minimize costly errors and accelerate project estimation.
The round, closed in August, was led by Cercano Management, with participation from Jamie McDonald of Black & McDonald, and returning investors Y Combinator and One Way Ventures. The raise brings Provision’s total funding to $8.7 million USD.
Tackling One of Construction’s Most Expensive Problems
Founded in 2022 by CEO Luigi La Corte and CTO Brendan Ardagh, Provision builds AI-driven tools to help estimators analyze complex project documentation, uncover risks, and surface opportunities before construction begins.
Each year, the global construction industry loses billions of dollars to mistakes made during the pre-construction phase—from design errors to scope misalignment and inaccurate cost forecasting. Provision’s software aims to make the estimation process more accurate and less time-consuming.
“We originally started to help reduce risk across projects, but we found that estimators had the biggest incentive to get this right,” said Luigi La Corte, CEO and Co-Founder.
“Now, instead of just identifying risks, we help pre-construction teams cut the time it takes to prepare accurate estimates.”
AI Co-Pilots Purpose-Built for Construction
Provision is developing domain-specific AI models tailored for construction workflows — including tools like Project Review, Chat Agent, and Scope Agent. These systems allow estimators to query large sets of technical documents, identify missing details, and verify assumptions in minutes rather than hours.
While general-purpose AI models struggle with industry-specific data, Provision is training its own models from scratch. The company is investing heavily in proprietary datasets to achieve up to 99% accuracy, addressing the high-stakes nature of pre-construction decisions.
“Given the cost of errors, accuracy matters more than anything,” said La Corte.
“We’re building models trained specifically on construction data so estimators can gut-check their work with complete confidence.”
Rapid Growth and Early Adoption
Provision’s technology is already being used by major construction firms including EllisDon, PCL Construction, Acciona, Bird Construction, and Colas. The startup says it has analyzed over $100 billion worth of projects and grew nearly 10× last year, surpassing $1 million in annual recurring revenue.
The new funding will allow Provision to expand its 10-person team by eight new hires, deepen R&D, and enhance the accuracy and automation of its AI agents.
“Our long-term goal is simple,” La Corte said. “We want to help every construction firm gut-check pre-construction work with multiple AI co-pilots working alongside estimators to eliminate mistakes before they happen.”
About Provision
Provision is a Toronto-based construction technology company building AI co-pilots for pre-construction. Its platform enables estimators and project teams to analyze documentation, detect risks, and deliver faster, more accurate cost estimates. Founded in 2022, Provision works with leading global contractors to help bring precision, speed, and reliability to one of the most complex stages of construction.
