UK-based AI data company Poindexter Labs has secured £2 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round to accelerate the development of its expert-driven training data platform for advanced artificial intelligence systems.
The round was led by Episode 1 and First Cheque, with participation from Venture Friends partners and a number of angel investors. Notably, several contributors from Poindexter Labs’ own expert network, including mathematicians, scientists, and researchers working on the platform, also participated in the funding.
Founded to address one of the biggest challenges facing modern AI development, Poindexter Labs focuses on creating high-quality training data generated and validated by subject-matter experts across highly specialized domains.

As AI models become increasingly sophisticated, the demand for expert-level training data continues to rise.
While much of today’s data infrastructure was originally designed for relatively simple tasks such as image labeling and text classification, modern frontier AI systems require complex reasoning, domain expertise, and structured knowledge to achieve meaningful improvements.

Building Collaborative Knowledge Infrastructure For AI
The company has developed a proprietary platform that enables experts to create, review, and validate highly specialized training data through collaborative workflows.
Currently in beta, the platform supports both Poindexter’s internal data generation services and external organizations developing advanced AI systems.
By introducing structured peer-review processes and collaborative knowledge creation, the company aims to improve both the quality and scalability of expert-generated training data while reducing inefficiencies commonly found in traditional annotation workflows.

The newly raised capital will be used to grow the team, deepen relationships with frontier AI laboratories, and expand platform availability to enterprise and public-sector organizations building next-generation AI systems.
