Mirai Robotics, an Italian startup building autonomous technologies for maritime operations, has raised €3.6 million in a pre-seed funding round.
The round was led by Primo Ventures, Techshop, and 40Jemz Ventures, with additional participation from several Italian and international angel investors.
The funding will support further technology development, expansion of the company’s team, and the launch of new pilot projects.
Bringing Autonomy To Maritime Operations
Founded in 2025 by Luciano Belviso, Luca Mascaro, and Davide Dattoli, Mirai Robotics focuses on developing autonomous systems designed for challenging maritime environments where safety, reliability, and operational control are critical.
The maritime sector remains one of the least digitized areas of global infrastructure despite its economic and strategic importance. Many operations still rely heavily on human oversight while facing rising operational costs, safety risks, and shortages of skilled professionals.
Mirai Robotics aims to address these challenges by developing robotic systems that improve monitoring, safety, and operational efficiency at sea.
Autonomous Vehicles For Maritime Intelligence And Patrol
The company has developed two autonomous vehicles designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions as well as maritime patrol operations.
These systems incorporate advanced perception technology, navigation capabilities, and safety features that allow them to operate independently or as part of coordinated fleets.
By combining autonomous vehicles with sensing technologies, artificial intelligence, and control systems, Mirai Robotics approaches maritime autonomy as an integrated engineering challenge rather than purely a software solution.
Enabling Autonomy For Existing Fleets
Alongside its own autonomous vehicles, Mirai Robotics also provides navigation, autonomy, and control technologies that can be integrated into existing vessels.
This allows industrial operators, research institutions, and public organizations to introduce autonomous capabilities without needing to redesign their current fleets.
The company’s technology is built with a dual-use approach, making it suitable for both commercial and institutional maritime applications.
Building A Maritime Autonomy Hub In Southern Europe
Headquartered in the Italian region of Puglia, Mirai Robotics aims to develop a European center for maritime autonomy research and development.
The location offers proximity to Mediterranean research institutions, industrial partners, and maritime infrastructure, supporting the company’s long-term ambition to advance autonomous maritime technologies.
