Amsterdam-based AgTech company Meridia has successfully raised €5.2 million in its Series A funding round. This funding came from a diverse group of new investors including Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Regeneration.VC, Edaphon, Cerigo Investments, Cerulean, Sabi Fund, and an investor represented by Sagana.

Meridia plans to use the funds to accelerate the expansion of its flagship product, Verify. This data verification platform is designed to help companies evaluate and manage risks associated with the field and physical flow data in the agri-commodity sector. Verify enables more effective integration of smallholders into global supply chains, and helps larger companies respond more swiftly and confidently to regulation and standards.

Enhancing Transparency and Compliance

Verify provides tools via a SaaS portal and API to pinpoint and correct erroneous, fraudulent, and non-compliant data in real-time. This capability supports procurement, sourcing, trade, and sustainability teams in making evidence-based decisions that reduce commercial and reputational risks while minimizing supply chain disruptions.

Additionally, Verify aids companies in adapting to evolving regulatory frameworks such as the EU Deforestation Regulation, ensuring compliance with international standards on human rights, living income, and environmental impact. It is already operational in 35 origin countries for commodities like cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, and rubber, with plans to extend its application to new commodities and sectors.

Leveraging Technology for Sustainable Supply Chains

Founded in 2015 by Simon Ulvund and Thomas Vaassen, Meridia’s mission is to enhance the accuracy of datasets used in decision-making within global agri-commodity supply chains. The company aims to establish transparent and inclusive supply chains that provide fair opportunities for smallholders and create a level playing field.

Industry and Investor Support

The investment and ongoing collaboration from entities like Regeneration.VC underscore the confidence in Meridia’s approach and the potential of its technology to prevent deforestation, protect biodiversity, and rebuild consumer trust.

This new funding is a testament to Meridia’s innovative approach to solving critical challenges in the agri-commodity sector and its commitment to making global supply chains more transparent and sustainable.
