Premium dog food brand Marleybones has raised £2.5 million in new funding to expand its popular Pantry Fresh® range and accelerate growth across the UK pet nutrition market.
The round was led by TAW Ventures, founded by Jane Lauder, with participation from JamJar Investments, Active Partners, and Animal Health Angels.
Notably, the raise brings together a female-founded company and an all-female investor team—a rare milestone in European venture capital.
Combining Quality, Convenience, and Sustainability
Founded in 2020 by Mikala Skov and Josephine Bager, Marleybones is on a mission to simplify healthy feeding for dogs. Its signature Pantry Fresh® meals are slow-cooked, nutritionally complete, and packaged in fully recyclable Tetra Pak cartons—eliminating the need for freezing while preserving freshness.
The company also offers vet-developed supplements, omega oils, and air-dried natural treats, all made in the UK using responsibly sourced British ingredients.
“We’ve built strong traction across D2C and retail, expanded into supplements, and proven category demand with triple-digit growth,” said Mikala Skov, Co-founder of Marleybones. “With TAW Ventures and JamJar by our side, we’re ready to make Pantry Fresh® a household standard.”
Rapid Growth and Expanding Market Reach
Since its last funding round, Marleybones has achieved over 200% growth, launched new retail partnerships, expanded into the veterinary channel, and introduced a functional supplement line.
Co-founder Josephine Bager said the company’s success reflects growing consumer demand for pet food that balances nutrition, convenience, and sustainability.
“Our growth shows that customers want food that’s both nutritious and practical,” Bager noted. “Pantry Fresh® proves you don’t have to compromise—and this funding will help us bring that message to more pet parents.”
Backed by Purpose and Sustainability
Marleybones is plastic-neutral certified through its partnership with rePurpose Global and sources all ingredients locally within the UK. By using Tetra Pak cartons instead of single-use plastic trays or pouches, the company helps prevent millions of plastic containers from entering the waste stream.
What’s Next
The new funding will support Marleybones in:
- Expanding its team across creative, customer experience, and retail functions
- Building brand awareness through influencer partnerships, PR, and experiential campaigns
- Boosting customer acquisition through digital and retail channels
“This investment marks an exciting next chapter,” said Jane Lauder, Founder of TAW Ventures. “Marleybones is redefining what modern pet food looks like—nutritionally advanced, sustainable, and made for how people actually live today.”
