Cleantech startup MarkeDroid has raised €300,000 in bridge funding to accelerate the rollout of its AI-powered distributed energy orchestration platform across Europe.
The round was backed by a €175,000 syndicate investment from the Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN), led by Jana Budkovskaja and David Clark, alongside several private investors.
As part of its growth push, MarkeDroid has also brought on Kätri Kübar as Chief Operating Officer. Kübar previously served as Chief Product Officer at Funderbeam and held leadership roles at Wise and Bolt, bringing deep experience in scaling digital platforms across regulated industries.
Building the AI Layer for the Decentralized Grid
Founded in 2023, the company is developing an AI orchestration layer that connects and coordinates the rapidly growing network of distributed energy assets — from solar panels and home batteries to EV chargers and heat pumps.
By analysing real-time electricity prices, weather patterns, and consumption data, the platform enables homes and businesses to optimally store, use, or sell electricity, lowering costs while supporting grid stability.
“Grid operators are suddenly dealing with millions of solar panels on rooftops that weren’t designed to communicate with each other,” said Toomas Teesaar, Co-founder and CEO of MarkeDroid. “We’re building the intelligence layer that helps them speak the same language — efficiently, sustainably, and autonomously.”n environmental impact, resilience, and profitability — and act on them.”
Backing From Estonian Angels
Investors see MarkeDroid’s blend of AI and energy flexibility as a key advantage in Europe’s accelerating transition to decentralized power.
“MarkeDroid stands out not just for its technology but for its traction — it’s already showing strong product-market fit in one of the fastest-evolving energy markets,” said David Clark, lead investor at EstBAN.
Expanding Into the European Grid
MarkeDroid plans to extend beyond residential energy management through partnerships with major industry players. The startup is currently collaborating with Enefit, Estonia’s largest energy retailer, and national transmission operators on microgrid flexibility and virtual power plant (VPP) projects.
With its AI-driven coordination engine, MarkeDroid aims to make distributed energy management as seamless as cloud computing — turning millions of small energy assets into one smart, resilient system.
About MarkeDroid
MarkeDroid is an Estonian cleantech startup developing AI-powered Virtual Power Plant (VPP) orchestration for distributed energy systems. Founded in 2023, the company’s platform connects solar panels, batteries, EV chargers, and other assets into a unified energy network, enabling users to optimise energy consumption, production, and trading — while helping utilities maintain a flexible, stable, and sustainable grid.
