Stockholm-based Lassie has raised $75M in a Series C round to strengthen its position in Europe’s growing pet insurance and care market. The financing saw participation from Balderton Capital, Felix Capital, Inventure, Passion Capital and Stena Sessan.
The new capital will support Lassie’s continued geographic expansion and further development of its prevention-led, technology-driven insurance model.
Building Insurance Around Prevention
Founded by Hedda Båverud Olsson, Sophie Wilkinson and Johan Jönsson, Lassie operates with a clear focus on preventive pet healthcare. The company blends insurance expertise with engineering-led automation, aiming to shift pet insurance away from reactive claims management toward proactive health support.
Through its app, Lassie delivers localised insurance products while offering educational content, preventive care guidance, and reward-based incentives for healthy pet habits. Artificial intelligence is embedded across operations to streamline workflows and enhance customer experience, particularly within claims handling.
Automation And Faster Claims Processing
Lassie has significantly increased automation within its claims operations compared to traditional insurers that rely heavily on manual reviews. In Germany, for example, a large portion of claims can be processed end-to-end within minutes. Customers upload a photo of a veterinary invoice and, for straightforward cases, receive reimbursement quickly.
This operational efficiency comes at a time when veterinary costs are rising across Europe and pets are increasingly viewed as integral members of the family. As spending on pet health and wellbeing continues to grow, traditional insurance models are facing pressure to modernise.
Expansion Across Europe
With the $75M Series C funding, Lassie plans to scale further across key European pet insurance markets. The company will continue investing in AI-powered claims systems and preventive health capabilities as part of its broader strategy.
The company is also strengthening partnerships that connect everyday pet care with insurance services. These include a collaboration with Lidl to offer pet insurance via the Lidl Plus rewards programme, and a partnership with Tractive to introduce activity-based rewards and discounts through GPS-enabled pet tracking.
About Lassie
Founded in 2020, Lassie positions itself as a preventive pet insurance provider focused on helping pets stay healthy rather than only covering illnesses after they occur. By combining insurance coverage with wellness support and digital tools, the company aims to improve long-term pet health while simplifying the experience for owners across Europe.
