Knowunity, an AI-powered learning platform based in Berlin, has raised €27 million in a Series B funding round led by XAnge.
The round also saw participation from Project A, Portfolion, Isomer Capital, Redalpine, Educapital, and notable angels including Verena Pausder and Arthur Kosten. The fresh capital brings the firm’s total funding to €45 million.
Personalised AI learning expands globally
Founded in 2020 by four teenagers still in school, the startup is on a mission to make personalised education accessible to students worldwide. The platform merges peer-generated content with AI-driven customisation, and is already used by over 20 million students across 15 countries. In Germany alone, one in three students uses Knowunity.

From TikTok-style notes to intelligent tutoring
What started as a student content-sharing app has evolved into a full-fledged AI study companion, offering curriculum-aligned materials, tailored feedback, and adaptive learning plans. The company sees strong engagement, with users accessing the app over seven times per week on average.
Global ambitions and revenue growth
The new funding will support the expansion into the U.S. and Asia, as well as further development of its AI capabilities and talent acquisition. Knowunity operates on a freemium model, with premium features generating revenue primarily through B2C subscriptions.
Backed by mission-driven investors
XAnge, which manages €700 million in assets, led the round and praised Knowunity for transforming education with AI. “Knowunity is revolutionising the education system and preparing students for success through tailored AI support,” said Valerie Bures, Partner at XAnge.
With this raise, the company is doubling down on its mission to deliver intelligent, affordable, and personalised education tools for the next generation of learners worldwide.
