Keith, a newly founded UK-based AI-native law firm, has secured €2.3 million (£2 million) in seed funding ahead of its official launch later this year.

The round was led by Backed VC, with participation from Breega and a group of angel investors. The company is positioning itself as a next-generation legal firm built entirely around AI from day one.

Built By Founders With Startup DNA

Keith was founded by Andy Shovel, Pete Sharman, and Sam Tucker. Shovel and Sharman previously built plant-based food brand THIS, while Tucker brings experience from building the hybrid scheduling platform Common Surface.

Rather than creating another legal tech tool, the team is building a fully regulated law firm with AI embedded at its core.

Automating Legal Workflows At Scale

Keith’s model is designed to automate up to 80% of traditional legal tasks. Its system relies on a network of AI agents capable of handling document review, drafting, communication, and workflow coordination all under regulatory frameworks and human oversight.

This structure allows the firm to operate continuously, improving turnaround times while maintaining service quality typically associated with high-end legal providers.

Starting With Conveyancing

The company will initially focus on conveyancing, an area of law often criticised for inefficiency. In the UK alone, more than 530,000 property transactions fall through each year, creating significant financial and emotional strain.

Keith aims to streamline this process before expanding into additional legal services over time. The company is supported by strategic advisor Eddie Goldsmith, bringing deep industry expertise.

A Large Market Ready For Disruption

Keith is targeting the UK’s €62.4 billion legal market, which it believes has seen limited innovation over the past decades. By combining AI with a fully integrated legal structure, the company aims to redefine how legal services are delivered.

Its platform includes a client-facing AI assistant available 24/7 via phone and WhatsApp, enabling real-time updates, queries, and task execution without delays.

Co-founder Andy Shovel highlighted his own experience with a failed property purchase as a key motivation, pointing to outdated processes and lack of technology as core issues the company aims to solve.
