UK-based veterinary startup Hello Vet has raised £15 million in Series A funding, bringing total capital raised to £21 million following its £6 million Seed round in August 2023.

The latest round was backed by Addition and Future Positive, alongside participation from 15 senior veterinary professionals.

Building A New Model For Modern Vet Clinics

Founded in 2022 by healthcare entrepreneurs James Lighton and Alessandro Guazzi, together with veterinary surgeon Dr Oli Viner, Hello Vet is rethinking how veterinary care is delivered. The company opened its first clinic in London Fields in July 2024, designed around transparency, empathy, and shared care between clinicians and pet owners.

Letting Owners Be Part Of The Care Journey

Unlike traditional practices, Hello Vet allows pet owners to remain present throughout treatment and recovery. From staying with pets during anaesthesia to supporting them post-procedure, the approach aims to reduce anxiety, improve clinical outcomes, and build deeper trust between vets and clients.

Digital Access That Reduces Cost And Stress

Hello Vet also operates a free WhatsApp triage service, giving pet owners instant access to qualified practitioners. Over the past year alone, the service helped save pet owners more than £75,000 in avoided consultation fees, while ensuring animals receive timely guidance.

Tackling Burnout In The Veterinary Profession

With veterinary burnout and staff attrition at record levels across the UK, Hello Vet is investing heavily in AI-driven and proprietary technology to remove friction from clinical workflows. By automating administrative tasks, the company aims to reduce non-clinical workload by up to 90%, allowing vets and nurses to focus on patient care rather than paperwork.

Creating The Best Place To Work In Vet Care

Co-founder and CEO James Lighton says the company’s long-term success depends on retaining and supporting clinical talent.
He explains that many professionals leave the industry not because they stop caring about animals, but because the system makes it unsustainable. Hello Vet’s mission is to restore pride, balance, and joy to veterinary work so that better care follows naturally.

Investor Confidence In A Human-First Approach

According to Robbie Horwitz, Partner at Addition, Hello Vet is setting a new benchmark for how veterinary services should operate by prioritising clinician wellbeing alongside patient outcomes. The firm believes this people-first philosophy will define the future of pet care.

National Expansion Plans Underway

The new capital will support nationwide expansion, with plans to open multiple clinics across the UK and hire 200 additional vets and veterinary nurses over the next two years. The focus remains on scaling responsibly while preserving a supportive, sustainable work environment.

About Hello Vet

Hello Vet is building a new standard for veterinary care in the UK by combining collaborative treatment experiences, digital access, and clinician-centric operations. By putting wellbeing at the centre of its model, the company delivers better outcomes for pets, owners, and the professionals who care for them.
