Almería-based agri-tech startup Grodi has secured €2.5 million in a funding round led by Swanlaab Innvierte Agri FoodTech, with participation from Axon Desarrollo Andalucía and Innvierte, SICC del CDTI.

The investment will support the industrialization of Grodi’s autonomous greenhouse robot and accelerate the company’s commercial and international expansion.

Bringing Autonomous Robotics To Intensive Agriculture

Founded in 2022 by Samuel Ruíz, Natalia Gálvez, and Ana Molina, Grodi develops robotics and computer vision systems tailored to Mediterranean intensive agriculture. The company has assembled a multidisciplinary team spanning engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, and agronomy.

Its solutions are designed to provide growers, cooperatives, and seed companies with objective, standardized, and continuous crop data, helping reduce operational uncertainty and improve decision-making in greenhouse environments.

At the center of Grodi’s portfolio is VEGA 11, an autonomous robot built to operate independently inside Mediterranean greenhouses. Equipped with advanced computer vision, the robot captures detailed plant-level data while navigating greenhouse rows without human intervention.

Data-Driven Crop Management

VEGA 11 integrates proprietary hardware, machine learning models, and large-scale analytics to support agronomic management. The system can help detect early plant health issues, estimate yields, and optimize cultivation strategies with high precision.

All collected data is centralized through Grodi’s digital platform, enabling real-time monitoring and more standardized crop management processes. The company positions its technology as a way to improve productivity while increasing sustainability and resource efficiency.

According to CEO Ana Molina, the agricultural sector requires practical tools that lower costs, enhance resource use, and standardize operations. She noted that automation and computer vision have the potential to significantly reshape daily crop management in intensive farming systems.

Scaling Commercial Deployment

Grodi is now entering a growth phase focused on scaling the commercial rollout of VEGA 11 across Spain’s major horticultural regions. The new capital will also support the expansion of its technology portfolio with additional products designed for real-world agricultural applications.

Beyond Spain, the company plans to pursue international expansion as greenhouse operators increasingly seek solutions that boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

About Grodi

Grodi develops robotics and computer vision technologies for greenhouse and open-field agriculture. By delivering actionable crop data and automation tools, the company aims to help growers optimize resource use, reduce uncertainty, and improve operational performance in intensive farming environments.
