Garage, a startup founded by firefighter-turned-entrepreneur Martin Hunt and CTO Alaz Sengul, has raised $13.5M in a Series A round led by Infinity Ventures.

The platform provides a nationwide marketplace for critical public safety and municipal equipment such as firetrucks, streamlining processes like appraisal, freight quotes, and payments.

Addressing inefficiencies in public safety equipment sales

Traditionally, fire departments and local governments relied on platforms like GovDeals, Facebook groups, or even newspaper classifieds to buy and sell gear. Garage replaces these manual, fragmented processes with AI-driven tools that appraise equipment, manage listings, and coordinate delivery. Transactions can exceed $100,000, making security a key feature of the platform.

“Many of our customers are firefighters, fleet managers, and public works directors who lack the time for endless paperwork and logistics,” said Hunt, CEO of Garage.

Funding and expansion

Garage previously raised a $4.5M seed round led by Initialized Capital after completing Y Combinator’s Winter 2024 cohort. The latest round brings its total funding to $18M, with participation from Benchstrength, Wayfinder Ventures, and FJ Labs.

The fresh capital will be used to expand the team, enhance marketplace capabilities, and grow its reach. The platform is already active in all 50 U.S. states, with clients in cities including Burlington, Vermont, and South Charleston, West Virginia.

Improving community safety

By enabling departments to sell old equipment nationwide and acquire mission-critical gear more affordably, Garage aims to strengthen public safety budgets while increasing access to essential tools.

“We hope that improving access to affordable, mission-critical equipment improves public safety in the areas that need it most, while allowing funds to stay in the hands of those serving our local communities,” Hunt said.
