Helsinki-based food tech startup Foodiq has secured €10 million in fresh funding to accelerate the international expansion of its proprietary food manufacturing technology, the Multi-Layer Cooker (MLC).

The investment comes from undisclosed backers and marks a significant step in the company’s mission to revolutionise how food is produced globally.

Streamlining complex processes with one machine

Foodiq’s MLC technology replaces multiple machines with a single, automated unit capable of mixing, pasteurising, and emulsifying in one streamlined process. This allows food manufacturers to significantly increase efficiency, reduce energy usage, and switch recipes with ease — ideal for both traditional dairy and plant-based production.

CEO and co-founder Robert Savikko described the investment as a vote of confidence in Foodiq’s focus on scalable and sustainable food tech. “We’re ready to bring our technology to the world stage and help build a smarter, cleaner, and more local food future,” he said.

Flexible application across industries

The MLC system is designed to work with a wide range of ingredients — from cow’s milk to camel milk and plant-based proteins — enabling the production of various products like yoghurts, spreads, smoothies, and even fish-based items made from by-products. Its modular, adaptable nature positions it as a transformative tool for manufacturers across dairy, alternative protein, and broader bioprocessing sectors.

With this funding round, Foodiq is set to scale operations, drive R&D, and push further into international markets as it aims to become a global leader in efficient and intelligent food production.
