Flox Intelligence, a wildlife technology company developing AI-driven systems to prevent human-wildlife conflict around critical infrastructure, has raised a €2.5 million ($3 million) Seed+ round to accelerate deployments across North America.
The round was led by Tilia Impact Ventures, with participation from Satgana, GENIUS NY (operated by CenterState CEO), J.O.S.S., and existing investors Unconventional Ventures and Almi Invest. The funding will support international expansion and increased implementation of its autonomous wildlife intelligence platform.
What The Company Does
Founded in 2020 by Sara Nozkova and Tomas Becklin, Flox Intelligence builds AI-powered wildlife intelligence systems designed to guide animal behaviour in real time and reduce conflicts between wildlife and human infrastructure. The company’s technology combines edge-deployed AI, bioacoustics, and applied wildlife science to create adaptive deterrence systems that operate continuously and autonomously.
Its solutions are used across environments such as railways, airports, road networks, agricultural land, and industrial sites, where wildlife interactions can lead to safety risks, operational disruptions, and infrastructure damage. Data from each deployment is aggregated through the Flox Wildlife Platform, which provides centralized monitoring, reporting, and behavioural insights.
Unlike traditional deterrent methods such as fencing, pyrotechnics, or manual scare tactics, Flox’s system is designed as a proactive and learning-based layer that adjusts responses based on animal movement patterns and environmental conditions.
Market Context / Industry Background
Human-wildlife conflict represents a growing operational and environmental challenge globally, particularly as urban expansion, transportation infrastructure, and industrial development increasingly intersect with natural habitats. Faster and quieter transport systems, combined with expanding logistics networks, have intensified risks related to wildlife collisions and ecosystem disruption.
Conventional mitigation tools are often reactive, labour-intensive, and limited in scalability, offering short-term deterrence without adaptive intelligence. As infrastructure operators face stricter safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, demand is rising for automated, data-driven systems that can prevent incidents while preserving biodiversity.
AI-enabled environmental monitoring and prevention technologies are emerging as a new category within infrastructure safety, combining ecological data analysis with operational risk management to deliver long-term, scalable mitigation strategies.
Founder / Investor Commentary
CEO and co-founder Sara Nozkova emphasized that infrastructure safety frameworks are increasingly expected to incorporate wildlife intelligence as a standard operational layer. She noted that legacy deterrence approaches often fail to scale or adapt, and do not adequately protect the ecological corridors that wildlife depends on.
Nozkova stated that Flox’s long-term vision is to shift from reactive deterrence toward real-time behavioural guidance, enabling safer coexistence between wildlife and human infrastructure. She added that the company aims to establish wildlife intelligence as a core component of modern infrastructure operations globally.
Growth Plans / Use Of Funds
The newly secured funding will be used to accelerate deployments across North America, where demand is increasing among infrastructure operators seeking automated wildlife risk mitigation solutions. Flox Intelligence plans to expand implementations across airports, rail corridors, highways, and industrial facilities while responding to growing international interest in its platform.
In parallel, the company will continue enhancing its AI models and expanding its wildlife dataset, which is built through continuous field deployments and contributes to long-term behavioural insights. The firm has recently relocated its commercial headquarters to the United States to support market expansion while maintaining its technological roots in Europe.
By scaling its edge-based systems and centralized analytics platform, Flox aims to protect critical infrastructure, reduce operational disruptions, and support sustainable coexistence between human development and wildlife ecosystems.
