EvodiaBio, a Denmark-based industrial biotechnology startup developing sustainable aroma solutions through fermentation, has raised €6 million (DKK 45 million) in new financing.

The funding will be used to strengthen commercial momentum in existing markets and support entry into Asia.

The round was led by RA Capital Management’s Planetary Health Fund and included new investors Wild Radicals and Francis Family Funds. Current shareholders also reinvested, including EIFO, Ananke Ventures, Newtree Impact, PINC (Paulig), the founding team, senior management, and board members.

Rapid journey from lab to revenue

Founded in 2021, EvodiaBio has moved unusually fast for an industrial biotech company. In just over three years, it has transitioned from academic research to approved, industrial-scale production, while already operating a profitable business.

The company uses yeast fermentation to produce natural aroma compounds that traditionally rely on resource-intensive extraction or chemical synthesis. Its approach significantly reduces emissions and raw-material use, while maintaining consistency and scalability for commercial customers.

According to CEO Camilla Kloss Fenneberg, the new funding allows the team to shift focus from technical validation to global growth, building on a platform that is already proven in real production environments.

Fermentation biotech continues to attract capital

EvodiaBio’s funding comes amid sustained investor interest in fermentation-based food and ingredient technologies across Europe. Capital continues to flow into startups applying biotech to flavours, fats, and proteins, as food and beverage companies look for lower-impact alternatives that work at industrial scale.

Within this landscape, EvodiaBio’s focus on aroma compounds positions it as a complementary player to other fermentation innovators, addressing a core but often overlooked component of food and beverage formulation.

Strong commercial adoption in beverages

Earlier this year, EvodiaBio introduced its Yops platform, enabling beverage producers to integrate fermentation-derived aromas directly into brewing and production processes. Since launch, the technology has been used in more than 70 commercial brews and is currently being tested or deployed in over 10 projects with leading global breweries.

Strategic partnerships with major industry players have helped accelerate adoption and provided a route to international customers without requiring heavy in-house sales infrastructure.

Scaling beyond beer and into Asia

With the new capital, EvodiaBio plans to expand geographically, with Asia identified as a key next market. The company also intends to broaden its application scope beyond beer into wine, other beverages, and the wider aroma sector.

This latest round is EvodiaBio’s third in three years and brings total capital raised to €20 million (DKK 150 million).
