eMabler, a Helsinki-based EV charging platform powering Finland’s largest public charging network, has closed a €5.5M Series A round led by Greencode Ventures, with participation from Swiss Post Ventures, Rethink Ventures, and Helkama Kiinteistöt.

The round is complemented by a €1M innovation loan from Finnvera, backed by the European Investment Fund under the InvestEU programme, and a €1M grant and loan combination from Business Finland. The company will use the funding to expand into Germany and the UK and advance its grid-aware charging capabilities.

Addressing The Market Opportunity

The European EV charging landscape remains fragmented, with many operators relying on standalone apps that sit outside a driver’s everyday digital experience. eMabler has built its business around a different model, one that embeds charging directly into the apps, loyalty programmes, and services that customers already use.

The company argues that as Nordic markets have matured, standalone charging propositions have become less competitive. Operators that integrate charging as a native part of their brand offering generate stronger customer loyalty and more predictable recurring revenue.

How The Technology Works

eMabler operates as an API-first platform that connects charging infrastructure with a business’s existing systems through open APIs and over 300 ready integrations. The platform is hardware-agnostic, giving operators full control over their technology stack, data, and customer relationships without dependence on any single hardware provider.

The platform also incorporates grid-aware charging that schedules sessions based on day-ahead electricity pricing and real-time grid conditions. This allows operators to manage margins during periods of price volatility while contributing flexible demand capacity to the broader power system, turning EV infrastructure into an energy asset rather than a simple load.

Growth And Market Traction

Founded in 2019, eMabler supports over one million charging sessions per month and reports a platform uptime of 99.999%. S Group operates its ABC Charging network through eMabler, combining charging with its loyalty programme and app to become Finland’s largest public charging operator with a market share of over 50 percent. Neste delivers integrated charging to fleet customers at workplaces and stations through its own digital channels using the eMabler platform.

Nordic parking operators AimoPark and TimePark have bundled parking and charging into a single app experience, while EasyPark uses eMabler to offer combined parking and charging services across European markets.

Expansion Plans

The Series A round will fund eMabler’s entry into Central Europe, with Germany and the UK as the primary target markets. The company will also continue developing its grid-aware software to deepen its position at the intersection of EV charging and energy flexibility.

Looking Ahead

Juha Stenberg, CEO and Co-founder of eMabler, described the shift he sees defining the next phase of the market: “The Nordic market has reached a level of maturity where standalone, vertical-specific charging propositions no longer make sense. End-users want charging built into the apps and services they already use. We’ve proven that when you make charging a native part of a brand’s core offering, you win the market. This round allows us to meet the surging demand for this integrated model to a much broader European market.”

Ines Bergmann-Nolting, Managing Partner at Greencode Ventures, outlined the firm’s rationale: “The European EV charging market is accelerating, and the next decade will be won by the software layer underneath it. eMabler saw that early, made the architectural bet on openness, and has the Nordic customer base to prove it works. We believe their model is highly scalable across Europe, and we’re backing an exceptional team with genuine eMobility depth, a disciplined approach to building, and a clear view of where this market is heading.”
