Eka Ventures has announced the final close of its €91.5 million ($107 million) Fund II, aimed at investing in early-stage startups across health, sustainability, and life sciences.
With this new fund, Eka strengthens its position as one of the UK’s leading early-stage impact investors, supporting companies that combine financial performance with measurable societal and environmental impact.
Strong Backing From Institutional Investors
The oversubscribed fund attracted a broad range of institutional limited partners, including British Business Bank, Better Society Capital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, The Health Foundation, WRAP, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, John Ellerman Foundation, and The Vivensa Foundation.
Focus On Impact-Driven Innovation
Founded in 2018 by Camilla Dolan and Jon Coker, Eka Ventures invests at the pre-seed and seed stages, targeting startups in health, wellbeing, and sustainable industries.
With Fund II, Eka’s total assets under management now reach approximately €171.1 million ($200 million).
The firm focuses on three key themes:
- Reducing carbon emissions in consumer sectors
- Advancing preventive and inclusive healthcare
- Improving access to essential products and services through technology
Track Record And Portfolio Growth
Eka’s first fund backed several high-growth startups, including Runna (later acquired by Strava), Urban Jungle, Axle, Hived, Foresight Data Machines, Jude, and Flok Health.
The firm reports that Fund I ranks among the top-performing 2021 vintage funds globally based on key metrics such as DPI and TVPI. Its portfolio companies have also attracted follow-on investment from major firms including Index Ventures, Accel, and Balderton Capital.
Investment Strategy For Fund II
Fund II will focus on backing a new generation of UK-based startups at the earliest stages. Eka plans to invest in up to 30 companies, typically committing around €1.7 million ($2 million) per deal while leading or co-leading rounds.
Additional capital will be reserved for follow-on investments in top-performing portfolio companies.
Jon Coker emphasised that long-term societal challenges—such as healthcare access, climate sustainability, and essential services—represent not only urgent needs but also some of the largest market opportunities globally.
