London-based Cytospire Therapeutics has raised £61 million in Series A funding to accelerate development of its novel immune cell engager therapies for cancer treatment.

The financing round was led by 4BIO Capital, with participation from investors including Servier Ventures, British Business Bank, Sound Bioventures, and Criteria Bio Ventures. Existing backers Abingworth and LifeArc Ventures also joined the round, alongside new investors Modi Ventures, Medical Incubator Japan, and Pathway Bioventures.

Advancing A New Approach To Immune Cell Engagers

Led by CEO Natalie Mount, Cytospire is developing multispecific antibody therapies designed to activate gamma delta T cells — a type of immune cell increasingly recognised for its role in anti-cancer responses.

Unlike conventional CD3 T cell engager therapies, which can face safety and efficacy limitations, Cytospire’s platform aims to engage all gamma delta T cell subtypes. The company believes this broader activation strategy can generate stronger and more consistent anti-tumour responses across different patient groups.

Its lead candidate, CYT X300, is currently progressing through IND-enabling preclinical studies and GMP manufacturing.

Expanding Leadership And Scientific Expertise

Alongside the financing, Cytospire Therapeutics has strengthened its board with the appointments of Alexis Vandier, Carmine Circelli, and Anna Gran.

According to Natalie Mount, the company is building on growing translational and clinical evidence showing gamma delta T cells are uniquely suited for next-generation immune engager therapies.

“The significant support from this investor group reflects both the strength of our science and the potential of our pan-gamma delta T cell engager platform,” she said.

Targeting Safer And More Effective Cancer Therapies

Cytospire’s technology is designed to activate both tissue-resident and blood-resident gamma delta T cells, aiming to overcome some of the limitations associated with current immunotherapy approaches.

By targeting the full gamma delta T cell population rather than specific subsets, the company hopes to improve treatment effectiveness while reducing challenges linked to patient variability.
