On Friday, June 2nd, Amsterdam’s Cargoroo, a provider of shared electric cargo bikes, revealed that it has successfully raised €1.1M through a crowdfunding campaign on the Oneplanetcrowd platform. This achievement was made possible by the support of 543 funders.

Commencing the campaign with the goal of collecting €2M, the Dutch company embarked on an endeavor to secure financial support.

Cargoroo intends to utilize the raised funds to facilitate its expansion into new cities across Germany and Belgium, driving the company’s growth and reach.

Back in December 2022, the Amsterdam-based startup successfully raised €10M from notable investors, including Participatiefonds Duurzame Economie Noord-Holland (PDENH), The Sharing Group, Fairtree Elevant Ventures, among others, contributing to the company’s growth trajectory.

About Cargoroo

Founded by Jaron Borensztajn, Erik de Winter, and Jelle Maije, Cargoroo specializes in providing secure, affordable, eco-friendly, and convenient e-cargo sharing bikes. These electric cargo bikes are conveniently stationed at designated locations and can be easily rented through a user-friendly app. Users have the flexibility to rent the bikes for €0.10 per minute, following a pay-per-use model.

The company caters to individuals who require a cargo bike on an occasional basis, such as parents planning outings with their children, people in need of transportation for heavy or bulky items, or students moving into their accommodation.

Cargoroo has witnessed a significant threefold increase in its user base over the past year. Collectively, these users have covered an impressive distance of over 1,500,000 kilometers. In order to enhance customer experience, foster loyalty, and encourage off-peak usage, the Dutch company has plans to introduce a subscription model.

Currently, Cargoroo operates in various cities including Amsterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Arnhem, Nijmegen, Antwerpen, Leuven, Mechelen, Manchester, Berlin, and Eindhoven.
