Bubble Robotics has raised $5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Episode1 Ventures, Asterion Ventures, and Norrsken Evolve, following its launch from Entrepreneurs First.

The company is developing autonomous robotic systems for offshore environments, aiming to replace vessel-based operations with continuous robotic monitoring across marine industries facing rising operational costs and labour shortages.

What The Company Does

Founded in 2025 by former engineers from NASA and ETH Zürich, Bubble Robotics is building an autonomous offshore workforce designed to operate without constant human presence.

The company develops integrated surface and subsea robotic systems that can remain deployed at sea for extended periods. These systems are designed to carry out continuous inspection, monitoring, and data collection, reducing the need for traditional crewed vessels.

Its technology targets offshore operations that are typically expensive and resource-intensive, where daily costs can exceed $100,000 depending on vessel and crew requirements.

By shifting from episodic missions to persistent autonomous operations, the company aims to change how maritime data is gathered and infrastructure is maintained.

Market Context / Industry Background

Offshore industries play a central role in energy production, global trade, and environmental monitoring, yet many operational processes still rely on legacy vessel-based systems. These operations are often costly, infrequent, and constrained by workforce availability.

At the same time, offshore operators are facing growing pressure from labour shortages and increasing demand for higher-frequency inspections, particularly in energy infrastructure, maritime security, and environmental compliance.

Recent advances in robotics, edge computing, and satellite connectivity are enabling a shift toward autonomous systems capable of operating in remote and harsh environments. This is opening up new opportunities for continuous ocean data collection and operational efficiency.

Bubble Robotics is positioning itself within this transition by applying autonomy and distributed systems design to offshore operations.

In addition, improvements in sensor miniaturisation and energy-efficient hardware are making it more feasible to deploy long-duration autonomous platforms at sea. These systems can reduce the need for human intervention in routine monitoring tasks while increasing the frequency and resolution of data collection. As offshore assets age and global infrastructure expands, the ability to maintain consistent oversight is becoming increasingly important. This is driving interest in scalable autonomous solutions that can complement existing maritime workflows without requiring full replacement of established vessel-based operations. Overall, adoption is accelerating across multiple offshore sectors, particularly in energy and maritime logistics.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Jean Crosetti, CEO and co-founder of Bubble Robotics, said that vessels and crews represent the majority of offshore inspection costs, estimating them at around 80 to 90 percent of total expenses.

He noted that removing this dependency allows for a structural shift in how offshore operations are conducted, moving from periodic interventions to continuous monitoring. This change, according to Crosetti, improves cost efficiency while also enhancing safety and operational consistency.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate technology development and support early deployments of the company’s autonomous systems in real-world offshore environments.

Bubble Robotics plans to further develop its robotics-as-a-service model, allowing operators to access autonomous inspection capabilities without large upfront infrastructure investment. The company is also working toward scaling its distributed network of robotic systems, inspired by satellite constellation models, to enable higher-frequency ocean data collection.
