Climate fintech Bees & Bears has raised €5 million in seed funding to scale its embedded-finance platform for clean-energy solutions across Europe.
The round was led by Extantia Capital and Contrarian Ventures, following a €2 million pre-seed round in 2024.
The new funding follows a €500 million financing framework secured earlier this year with a leading European bank — a partnership expected to finance around 25,000 solar, heat pump, and battery storage installations over the next two years.
Making Clean Energy Affordable and Accessible
Founded in 2023 by Marius Schondelmaier and Jakob von Egidy, Bees & Bears provides an embedded-finance platform that allows renewable energy installers to offer customers on-the-spot instalment plans for solar, heating, and storage systems — directly during consultations.
For many households, the high upfront cost of clean-energy technology remains a major barrier. In Germany alone, nearly 40% of households cannot afford solar or heat pump systems without financing. Bees & Bears addresses this gap by integrating instant financing directly into the sales process, eliminating complex paperwork and the need for traditional bank involvement.
Installers submit customer quotes through the platform, which performs real-time credit checks and generates immediate financing offers. This process helps installers accelerate project approvals, reach new customer segments, and grow revenue — while enabling consumers to adopt sustainable technologies without upfront payments.
