Basis has secured $100 million in Series B funding, bringing its valuation to $1.15 billion as it expands its AI agent platform built specifically for accounting firms.

The round was led by Accel, with participation from GV, Lloyd Blankfein, and existing backer Khosla Ventures, which increased its investment. Additional investors include NFDG, Better Tomorrow Ventures, BoxGroup, Avid Ventures, and several prominent technology leaders. Accel’s Miles Clements will join the board alongside Keith Rabois of Khosla Ventures.

Tackling Structural Pressures In Accounting

The accounting industry is facing growing strain from talent shortages, rising client demands, margin compression, and employee burnout.

Basis is positioning itself as infrastructure for AI-driven accounting operations, deploying autonomous agents that automate complex workflows across client accounting services, tax, and audit functions. The platform currently supports approximately 30 percent of the Top 25 accounting firms.

Long-Horizon AI Agents For Complex Workflows

Rather than focusing on narrow task automation, Basis develops long-horizon AI agents capable of managing multi-step accounting processes over extended periods.

These agents operate continuously in the background, coordinating across systems and workflows before delivering completed outputs for human review. The company collaborates closely with leading foundation model labs to optimize performance for accounting-specific use cases.

Basis recently demonstrated an AI agent capable of autonomously completing an end-to-end 1065 tax return, highlighting its push toward increasingly complex automation.

Scaling Engineering And Advanced Capabilities

The new funding will be used to expand Basis’ engineering and machine learning teams and to develop more advanced AI agents capable of handling higher-complexity accounting workflows.

The company’s focus remains on delivering highly accurate, production-ready AI systems that enable firms to increase efficiency, unlock new revenue streams, and improve quality of life for accounting professionals.
