London- and San Francisco-based cybersecurity startup Asymmetric Security has raised $4.2M in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round to build AI agents that automate digital forensics and incident response.

The round was led by Susa Ventures, with participation from Halcyon Ventures and Overlook Ventures, alongside angel investors including Charlie Songhurst, Matt Clifford, and Geoff Ralston.

Automating digital forensics and response

Asymmetric Security is building an AI-native platform that automates large parts of digital forensics and incident response. By combining expert forensic knowledge with AI-driven automation, the company aims to help security teams investigate incidents faster, more accurately, and at lower cost.

The platform is designed to support proactive threat hunting as well as rapid response once an incident is detected.

Early traction across real-world attacks

According to the company, its technology has already been used to respond to more than 100 cyberattacks, significantly improving response speed and investigation efficiency compared to traditional manual processes.

Asymmetric Security says its approach reduces investigation timelines from days to hours, helping organisations contain threats and limit damage more effectively.

Expanding coverage for advanced threats

Over the next year, the company plans to broaden its capabilities to cover additional high-risk scenarios, including insider threat investigations, ransomware attacks, and nation-state-level incidents.

The new funding will be used to expand both the engineering team and the incident response function as the company scales its platform.

AI defence in an evolving threat landscape

Asymmetric Security positions itself around the idea that advances in AI are rapidly changing the threat landscape. The company argues that autonomous AI-driven attacks and risks such as AI model weight theft are becoming critical security concerns.

With its AI-first approach, Asymmetric Security aims to give defenders a structural advantage by applying automation and intelligence at machine speed to cyber forensics and response.
