Philadelphia-based robotics firm Asylon has raised $26 million in a Series B funding round led by Insight Partners, with participation from Veteran Ventures Capital, Allegion Ventures, and the GoPA Fund.

The company is known for its cutting-edge robotic security solutions, particularly its DroneDog units—modified versions of Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot integrated with Asylon’s own Guardian command-and-control software.

From Aerospace Engineers to Security Innovators

Founded in 2015 by MIT grads Damon Henry, Adam Mohamed, and Brent McLaughlin, Asylon began by offering drone security before evolving into a broader “robotics-as-a-service” platform. Its DroneDogs can patrol hazardous or hard-to-reach areas and are even equipped to detect gas leaks or chemical hazards. According to Henry, the company has now raised around $45 million in total funding, including previous rounds and government grants.

Growing Demand for Robotic Protection

Asylon’s services are increasingly in demand, especially following incidents like the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO in 2024. With annual RaaS (robotic security-as-a-service) packages costing around $100,000–$150,000—similar to hiring human security—more corporations are exploring robotic alternatives for facility and executive protection.

A Hard-Won Breakthrough and a Scaling Vision

A key turning point came during a live demo with Ford in 2021, when Asylon narrowly avoided disaster after a drone crash was resolved with a last-minute replacement—earning them three major clients and a Department of Defense contract. Now operating in 15 U.S. states with a 65-person team, the company is preparing to scale further, using its fresh funding to expand deployments and refine its integrated drone-dog security network.
