Berlin-based akirolabs, a SaaS platform specializing in collaborative strategic procurement, has successfully raised $5 million (approximately €4.61 million) in a seed funding round. This investment will be channeled towards advancing akirolabs’ SaaS product, enhancing its AI capabilities, and expanding customer growth and overall business operations.

The funding round was led by a group of investors including HTGF, OTB Ventures, D11Z. Ventures, and Switzerland-based Serpentine Ventures. Additionally, the round saw participation from notable angel investors like Fredrick Spalcke (ex-CPO of Phillips & Huawei), Heiko Schwarz (CEO of riskmethods), Markus Ehrle (VP and GM EMEA at ServiceNow), and Detlef Schultz (former CEO of the Vodafone Procurement Company).

Strategic Appointment to Advisory Board

Alongside the funding, akirolabs has appointed Jens Rassloff as Chairman of the Advisory Board. Rassloff brings extensive experience in tech, growth, innovation, and investment strategies, holding similar roles at Coparion, Parloa, and d.velop.

Elevating Procurement with AI

Founded in 2021 by Michael Pleuger, Detlef Schultz, Christoph Flöthmann, and Tim Ergenzinger, akirolabs is redefining procurement digitalization with a strategic focus. The company aims to address the heightened need for strategic procurement in the current macroeconomic climate, offering an AI-powered solution to unlock higher value beyond traditional savings.

Delivering Tangible Improvements in Procurement

Akirolabs’ AI-powered SaaS solution empowers clients to achieve 4-5 times higher value beyond traditional savings in procurement. Co-founder Pleuger emphasizes the importance of advanced strategic procurement software in today’s economic environment, noting that akirolabs’ solution goes beyond mere savings on price. It delivers improvements in total cost, supply chain resilience, sustainability, and agility, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of its customers.

With this seed funding, the startup is poised to make significant strides in the procurement sector, leveraging AI to transform traditional procurement processes and enhance the competitiveness of its clients.
