AirHub, a drone software company, has raised €4.4 million in a Series A round to scale its mission execution platform for security, defense, and critical infrastructure applications.

The funding was led by Keen Venture Partners and Runway FBU, with participation from existing investors Lumaux and LUMO Labs. The investment will support product development and international expansion as demand for secure drone operations increases across Europe.

What The Company Does

Founded in 2017, AirHub develops software for managing and orchestrating drone operations in complex and regulated environments. Its platform supports mission planning, live execution, fleet management, and real-time situational awareness, enabling organizations to integrate drones into routine operational workflows.

The company’s core product, the AirHub Drone Operations Centre, provides a centralized interface for preparing and executing missions, monitoring live video feeds, and ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements. This allows teams to coordinate drone activities across multiple units and environments with full oversight.

AirHub is also expanding its product suite with specialized solutions such as MilHub, tailored for defence applications, and SecHub, which focuses on security use cases including counter-drone capabilities.

Market Context / Industry Background

Drones are becoming increasingly embedded in sectors such as defense, public safety, infrastructure monitoring, and security operations. Their deployment across a wide range of use cases, (including border control, emergency response, environmental monitoring, and industrial inspection) is driving demand for software platforms capable of managing operations at scale. As drone fleets grow in size and complexity, organizations require centralized systems that can coordinate missions, process real-time data, and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks.

This shift is also being accelerated by advancements in automation, artificial intelligence, and sensor technologies, which are expanding the functional scope of drone operations. Modern platforms are expected not only to enable flight planning and execution but also to integrate data analytics, risk assessment, and situational awareness tools. As a result, drone software is evolving from a supporting function into a core operational layer for organizations managing critical assets and infrastructure.

In Europe, this trend is closely linked to increasing concerns around technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy. Governments, public institutions, and private organizations are placing greater emphasis on adopting locally developed solutions that provide full control over sensitive data, operational workflows, and critical systems. This is particularly relevant in sectors where data security, regulatory compliance, and interoperability with national frameworks are essential.

At the same time, the European regulatory environment, shaped by frameworks such as the EU Drone Strategy and EASA guidelines, is encouraging the development of standardized, secure, and interoperable drone ecosystems. Companies operating in this space must navigate a complex landscape of compliance requirements while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to different national contexts and operational needs.

AirHub operates within this evolving context, positioning its platform as a European-built solution designed to support secure, scalable, and compliant drone operations in mission-critical environments. By focusing on integration, operational efficiency, and data sovereignty, the company aligns itself with broader regional priorities while addressing the growing demand for advanced drone management systems.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer Thomas Brinkman stated that the funding will accelerate the company’s growth as a provider of software for high-stakes operational environments. He emphasized the need for trusted systems that allow organizations to deploy drone missions securely and at scale while strengthening Europe’s technological independence.

From the investor side, Andy Lürling highlighted the increasing demand for European-developed solutions in the sector. He pointed to AirHub’s combination of technical capabilities and real-world deployments as a factor supporting its continued growth in mission-critical applications.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The new funding will be used to expand AirHub’s international team, enhance its core platform, and accelerate development of additional products such as MilHub and SecHub. The company also plans to strengthen partnerships with operators and organizations across Europe and other regions.

AirHub’s software is already used by organizations including Dubai Police, Belgian Federal Police, Prosegur, Securitas, Dutch Customs, Shell, Boskalis, and ProRail.

These deployments span use cases such as Drone as First Responder programs, incident management, infrastructure inspection, and security monitoring, reflecting the platform’s applicability across multiple sectors.
