Swedish cybersecurity startup Oplane has secured €4.5 million in seed funding to help engineering teams address the growing security challenges created by AI-driven software development.

The funding round was led by Seed Capital, with participation from angel investors Emil Eifrem, Robert Lagerström, Joakim Nydrén, and existing backer Icebreaker.vc.

Founded in Malmö by Emil Kvarnhammar, Oscar Andersson, and Anders Söderling, Oplane is developing an agentic security platform designed specifically for modern software teams increasingly relying on AI coding assistants and automated development tools.

Security Challenges Rise Alongside AI Development

As AI-powered coding platforms such as Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot continue to accelerate software creation, traditional security processes are struggling to keep pace.

Many organizations still rely on manual security reviews, threat modeling exercises, and fragmented security workflows that become increasingly difficult to scale as development velocity increases.

Oplane believes that software security must evolve alongside AI-assisted development by becoming deeply embedded into the engineering workflow rather than remaining a separate process.

An Agentic Security Platform For Modern Engineering Teams

The company’s platform automatically maps software architecture, identifies security requirements, detects potential vulnerabilities, and provides contextual remediation recommendations directly within developer workflows.

By combining automated code analysis with advanced threat modeling capabilities, Oplane helps engineering teams identify and resolve security risks much earlier in the development lifecycle.

The platform is designed to reduce the burden on security teams while enabling developers to build secure software without slowing down product delivery.

Early Customer Adoption And Expansion Plans

Oplane is already working with early customers and conducting pilot deployments as it expands adoption among software engineering organizations.

The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate growth across Europe, strengthen integrations with leading AI development tools, and expand the company’s engineering, cybersecurity, quality assurance, and commercial teams.

The startup’s long-term vision is to ensure that security evolves at the same speed as modern AI-powered software development.

Founder Perspective

Emil Kvarnhammar, Co-Founder and CEO of Oplane, said:

“I’ve spent years trying to solve this problem through human capacity alone, and it’s simply not scalable. Security must be addressed through agentic solutions that are tightly integrated into how development teams already work. A truly secure software development lifecycle is no longer a future ambition — it’s becoming a reality.”
