Danish AgTech company Perplant has secured €1 million in funding to accelerate the rollout of its AI-driven precision agriculture platform designed to reduce chemical usage and improve farming efficiency.

The investment round included backing from private angel investors, industry specialists, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, the European Space Agency, and Innovation Fund Denmark.

Building AI “Digital Eyes” For Tractors

Founded in 2022 by Rasmus Emil Hansen and Sumod Nandanwar, Perplant develops plug-and-play AI camera systems for agricultural machinery.

Its edge-AI platform integrates directly into tractors and continuously scans fields in real time, allowing farmers to apply fertilisers and herbicides only where required.

The company says the technology can reduce herbicide usage by up to 90% and lower fertiliser consumption by roughly 30%, while also improving crop yields and reducing operational costs.

Unlike traditional satellite-based agricultural monitoring systems, Perplant’s high-resolution sensor technology captures plant-level field data with centimetre-level precision.

Supporting Sustainable Agriculture And Compliance

Perplant’s system is designed not only to improve farm efficiency but also to simplify regulatory compliance and environmental reporting.

The platform identifies groundwater-sensitive areas, monitors field variation, and automatically adjusts spraying zones with high precision.

The company says its technology can also support insurers, regulators, and financial institutions by providing verified field-level agricultural data.

According to CEO and co-founder Rasmus Emil Hansen, the goal is to reduce both waste and administrative complexity for farmers.

“When our AI moves across a field, it documents variations, individual plants, and environmentally sensitive zones in real time,” Hansen said.

“It allows farmers to optimise spraying with centimetre precision while reducing bureaucracy and improving sustainability.”

Expanding Across Europe And Beyond

Perplant has already mapped more than 200,000 hectares of farmland across Europe and is currently active in multiple countries.

The company now plans to continue expanding internationally, including entering the US market.

About Perplant

Perplant develops AI-powered precision farming systems that help farmers optimise pesticide and fertiliser usage through real-time field monitoring and intelligent crop analysis. Its platform aims to improve agricultural efficiency, reduce waste, and support more sustainable farming practices.
