Regulate, a workplace breathwork and performance platform, has raised €1.4 million in seed funding in a round led by 4impact.vc, with participation from an angel syndicate including Hanno Renner, Mike Wax, Marlena Hien, and Felix Haas.
Founded in 2024 by Peter van Woerkum and Paul Laechelin, the company develops science-based breathwork tools designed to improve focus, stress management, and resilience in professional environments through personalised and context-aware interventions.
What The Company Does
Regulate develops a digital breathwork and performance platform tailored for workplace use. The system offers a library of more than 60 guided breathing sessions ranging from short 90-second exercises to longer recovery and focus routines.
The platform is designed to integrate into daily work routines rather than function as a standalone wellness application. Its sessions are context-specific and intended to support situations such as preparation before high-pressure meetings, recovery after demanding conversations, or alignment exercises before collaborative workshops.
Regulate combines breathwork content with data inputs from wearable devices and workplace systems to assess physiological signals and situational context. Based on this information, the platform recommends personalised breathing exercises aligned with the user’s stress, recovery, or concentration needs.
The company developed its scientific framework in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Hottenrott of Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, whose research focuses on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and physiological stress measurement.
Market Context / Industry Background
Corporate wellbeing and mental performance technologies have become a growing focus for employers as workplace stress, burnout, and cognitive overload continue to increase across knowledge-based industries.
At the same time, many corporate wellness programs face low engagement rates due to generic content and limited integration into everyday workflows. Companies are increasingly looking for tools that provide measurable impact while fitting naturally into professional environments.
This has contributed to growing interest in performance-oriented wellness platforms that combine behavioural science, physiological monitoring, and personalised interventions. Breathwork in particular has gained traction within performance optimisation and stress management markets because of its accessibility and relatively low implementation barriers.
Regulate positions itself within this emerging category by framing breathwork not primarily as mindfulness content, but as a practical tool for workplace focus, recovery, and sustained cognitive performance.
Founder / Investor Commentary
CEO and co-founder Peter van Woerkum described breathwork as a method for helping individuals shift from stress toward clarity in real time. According to van Woerkum, increasing workplace pressure and rising performance expectations linked to AI-driven productivity trends are creating stronger demand for sustainable cognitive performance tools.
He emphasized that Regulate’s objective is to integrate these interventions directly into existing work routines rather than adding additional complexity to employees’ schedules.
The investor group also reflects broader interest in workplace infrastructure platforms that combine health, productivity, and behavioural technology within enterprise software environments.
Growth Plans / Use Of Funds
The newly raised capital will support product development, team expansion, and commercial growth initiatives. Regulate also plans to expand its live-session formats and further develop its intelligence layer for personalised recommendations.
The company reports that more than 50,000 sessions have already been completed across enterprise customers within its first year of operation. Current clients include teams at Raiffeisen Bank International, Vattenfall, and Personio, alongside global consulting firms and enterprise organisations.
According to the company, its commercial pipeline currently represents more than €9 million in annual recurring revenue potential.
